G'day Family and Friends!
Thank you for visiting the Masters of Disaster WE GIVE page.
John and Ian (who have been friends for 28 years) are very excited to be taking part in Shitbox Rally in 2019! The Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for the Cancer Council in Australia and next year will be its 10th anniversary. John and Ian are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity.
Cancer is a diagnosis that no-one wants to hear. More than 120,000 Australians are diagnosed with cancer each year. Cancer Council Australia predicts one in 18 Australians will have faced a cancer diagnosis by 2040. It is not uncommon for more than one member of a family to have cancer.
Cancer is the true master of disaster and our drivers personally know the unfairness of the disease all too well. When presented the opportunity to participate in the Shitbox Rally and raise funds for cancer research they jumped at the opportunity. They hope their fund raising contribution will help to disrupt the disease. Of course travelling from Perth to Sydney via Uluru in a Shitbox sounded like an opportunity too good to miss. Please make sure to follow the Masters of Disaster's progress via this page and the blog post below.
John and Ian recognise like most people that the fundraising is the hardest part, so any donation that you can give is greatly appreciated.
Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,000, this year for the 10th year anniversary rally, over a 10 day across Australia endeavour to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.
Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
Almost $15 million has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:
These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
