Derek and Stu – AKA the Pittodrie Saints – have been given an amazing opportunity to do two things:
1. Raise much needed funds to support the Cancer Council; and
2. Take part in an unreal adventure called The Shitbox Rally 2019 – This year, all the teams are driving their shitboxes 5150kms from Perth to Sydney, via Uluru... across 10 days, through 5 states and in a car worth less than $1,000!!
Yes, it’s the 10 year anniversary of the rally!
Yes, it’s Derek’s 40th year and he wants to do something incredible!
Yes, it’s a lot of fun!
Yes, it’s a lot of hard work and personal time and financial commitment!
But let’s cut to the chase - we need to raise at least $5,000 between us and it would be great to get your support, thank you. Most teams raise well above this amount as you can see with the 2019 rally target set at $2,000,000 or more.
Please donate now and also lookout for fundraising events we’ll be hosting across the year in the lead up to the rally. All and any support is greatly appreciated including sharing our page with your friends and family who you think will be interested in following our progress and raising awareness for the rally.
Stu says “I took part in the Mystery Box Rally in 2016 (described as the “mad baby brother of the Shitbox Rally”) in support of family members and friends who were fighting personal battles with cancer – sadly, less than two years later they have all lost the fight and I want to do this rally in their memory and to raise more money for the cancer council in their honor”
Derek says “I’ve had cancer affect my family in the past and by doing the rally is my way of fighting back against this disease that’s taking people away we love too soon. What better way of fighting back and having a great life experience at the same time”
Stu and Derek are taking part in the 10 year anniversary of The Shitbox Rally 2019 which is bigger and longer than ever before. You can follow our progress via this page and the blog post below. Please support us by liking and sharing our page, asking us questions and of course, making a donation. Thanks for the support – Derek and Stu, the Pittodrie Saints!
Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,000, this year for the 10th year anniversary rally, over a 10 day across Australia endeavour to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.
Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
Almost $15 million has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:
These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
